Employees of Metinvest Group’s Khartsyzsk Pipe participated in Green City event

Employees of Metinvest Group’s Khartsyzsk Pipe participated in Green City environmental event organized by SCM Group.

Pipe makers and volunteers cleaned city squares and streets from fallen leaves and litter and planted young trees.

The Green City environmental event was held in two phases on 18 and 19 of October. The plant workers and non-indifferent city residents cleaned litter, leaves and branches on the area of 25,000 m², and planted 50 young maple trees.

On the first day the volunteers were improving the territory in the area of children's playground in Kondratyeva Street. On the second day it was the city center, Krasnoznamenskaya Street in the area of the Mothers’ Alley.

“Everyone is in good mood – people got together to implement one big and good deed”, - said Pavel Uzbek, the acting general director of Khartsyzsk Pipe. – “I am very pleased that there are so many non-indifferent people in Khartsyzsk, who responded to Metinvest’s initiative and came to clean the city and make it more cozy.

Green City event was also supported by Khartsyzsk Mayor, Valery Dubovoy. The Mayor hoped that such events will become regular, the city will become more beautiful and the residents will be pleased to see the results of their efforts.

Green City event involved over 14,000 employees of SCM’s companies in 50 cities all around Ukraine.

Khartsyzsk Pipe Plant is the largest pipe producer in Ukraine and one of the largest pipe producers in Europe. The company produces large diameter longitudinal submerged arc welded (LSAW) pipes from 508 mm to 1,422 mm with external corrosion-resistant and internal corrosion-resistant coating or flow coat for main oil and gas pipelines. The capacity of the plant is 1.3 million tons of pipes per year, including about 700,000 tons of coated pipes. Khartsyzsk Pipe has an integrated management system based on standards ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, API Spec Q1, DSTU ISO 9001, GOST Р ISO 9001, and STO Gazprom 9001. The plant’s products have been certified by the American Petroleum Institute (U.S.), Zetom Research and Certification Institute (Poland) and UkrSepro (Ukraine). Welding operations are certified for compliance with ISO 3834-2. The plant was Metinvest’s first Ukrainian enterprise to launch a lean enterprise program.
