The Metinvest Cup Youth Football Tournament took place in Mariupol on September 17-20. Teams of children of employees of Metinvest Group enterprises participate in the annual tournament, which is held in partnership with the Donetsk Shakhtar Football Club.
Fifteen teams representing different cities where Metinvest Group operates participated in the tournament this year, including Mariupol, Makiivka, Yenakieve, Khartsyzsk, Avdiivka, Dzerzhinsk, Komsomolsk and Novgorodskoye (Donetsk oblast); Krasnodon (Luhansk oblast); and Kriviy Rih (Dnipropetrovsk oblast). Azovstal Stadium in Mariupol hosted the tournament.
The senior bracket (children born in 2001) included teams from Avdiivka Coke, Central GOK, Shakhtar Football Club Academy’s Azovstal branch, and Khartsyzsk Pipe. The intermediate bracket (children born in 2002) included teams from Ingulets GOK, Inkor & Co., Makiivka Steel, Shakhtar Football Club Academy’s Azovstal branch, and Yenakieve Steel. The junior bracket (children born in 2003) included teams from Azovstal, Ilyich Iron & Steel works of Mariupol, Northern GOK, Yenakieve Steel’s Children’s Football Academy branch, and Khartsyzsk Pipe.
Winning teams will be recognized on September 21 at Donbass Arena during a break in the Ukrainian Premier League match between Shakhtar (Donetsk) and Vorskla (Poltava).
The Metinvest Cup Youth Football Tournament, part of Metinvest Group’s corporate social program, is held to promote healthy lifestyles among children and youth. The program includes the establishment of new and support for existing sports and football associations for children and youth in all cities where the Group operates.
