Khartsyzsk Pipe Plant of Metinvest Group has successfully passed tests of pipes on resistance to corrosive activity of the transported medium. Pipes are made from hot- rolled plates produced by AZOVSTAL IRON AND STEEL WORKS.
Tests were performed according to the Program and procedure of acceptance tests of LSAW pipes with the dimension of 720х20 mm of Х46 steel grade intended for exploitation in hydrogen sulfide-containing media, on the stand of Orenburg oil and gas condensate field of "Gazprom dobycha Orenburg" LLC during 8 months in mineralized stratal water containing hydrogen sulfide.
The program of tests was agreed in the Federal Agency of Russia for Environmental, Engineering and Atomic Energy Supervision and "Constantly working commission of "Gazprom" JSC on acceptance of new types of pipe products". Before stand tests the mechanical and corrosive tests of pipes specimens were conducted in “Gazprom VNIIGAZ” LLC with the purpose of determination of their compliance with the requirements of the technical conditions.
The results of laboratory and stand tests showed that the pipes manufactured by PJSC “KHARTSYZSK PIPE PLANT” meet the requirements of the technical conditions and normative documents of "Gazprom" JSC and will be recommended for construction, repair and reconstruction of pipelines in hydrogen sulfide-containing fields.
Director General of PJSC “KHARTSYZSK PIPE PLANT” Iurii Zinchenko made the following comment on the results of the successful tests: "Hydrogen sulfide-resistant pipes for transportation of "sour" media become more highly sought. The reason for this is that the increase of world oil and gas production will be indissolubly connected with the increase of corrosive activity of the transported media in the near future. Therefore, mastering the production of new type of pipes for our plant, first of all we are oriented on a client. This is a basic value of Metinvest Group. We are strengthening positions of Metinvest on strategic markets and thereby we save the competitive edge".
