For the improvement of client service Metinvest purchased 21 units of the new testing equipment for the Central plant laboratory of KHARTSYZSK PIPE PLANT which will allow to carry out tests not only on more hard requirements, than it is specified in standards, but also to satisfy expectations of consumers. Investments to the new equipment amounted to more than UAH 8.5 mln.
The new equipment will permit to carry out the corrosion test, light ageing test, test for thermal-cycle resistance and penetration test of the coating as well as measure hardness in the high load range. Two new units for making notches of CNV-34M type will enhance the technical basis of the specimens and repairs area.
All these not only will increase tests quality and extend the scope of tests but will allow to conduct a quality control of metal of high-strength pipes with heavy wall thickness. So, impact testing machine by power of 60 kJ for drop weight tear tests of pipes parent metal (DWTT) extends the scope of application of pipes made at KHARTSYZSK PIPE PLANT what allows to participate in submarine projects. Before, without tests by means of such impact testing machine, a plant did not have possibility to participate in meaningful projects, and also be qualified in such certification companies as Norwegian DNV and in such foreign companies as Total (France) and Statoil (Norway) which engage in similar projects.
With the upgraded laboratory the plant will refuse from some kind of tests performed by the outside organizations. Testing at its own laboratory base is a substantial plus at the estimation of plant in tenders. Independent control of the required parameters, updating of coating laboratory equipment is the following the requirements of customers and improvement of positions of Metinvest on the competitive market.
