The technical supervision of the Quality and Products Management System has been carried out in UkrSEPRO system. According to the results of the inspection the validity of the product certificates and certificate for Quality Management System has been confirmed in accordance with DSTU ISO 9001.

Metinvest Group was pronounced as the winner of the tender for pipes supply for the “Urengoy – Pomary – Uzhgorod” export gas pipeline modernization as part of reconstruction of the Ukrainian gas transmission network. At the present time «KHARTSYZSK PIPE» is supplying pipes for the first phase of this project. The order volume is more than 34 thous.tons.
A record shift production of pipes with the applied anticorrosion coating was achieved at «KHARTSYZSK PIPE» – 800 tons of the finished products or 221 pipes.

New state-of-the-art hydrostatic tester equipment UNIWELD (Germany) with maximum test pressure up to 300 bar came on stream at the pipe processing area of PEWSh-2 that will permit to perform tests for all product range manufactured by the shop. Upon equipment commissioning the large-scale investment project for new line upgrading was entirely completed that permits to expand the assortment of manufactured products and compete on equal footing with world producers.

KHARTSYZSK PIPE PLANT manufactured 1-millionth ton of single seam pipes. This is a significant step forward that will give a new impulse to Khartsyzsk Pipe Plant development. A new pipe end bevelling machine was put into operation and the plate-bending machine was modernized. Commissioning of this equipment permitted KHARTSYZSK PIPE PLANT to master pipe manufacture with diameter of 530 mm, wall thickness of 7.9-19 mm, length of 12m with single longitudinal seam. KHARTSYZSK PIPE PLANT, part of Metinvest Group, completed manufacture of large diameter pipes for Central Asia – China Project. Central Asia – China is the main gas pipeline that will connect major natural gas fields in Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan with Chinese gas transmission system. 547 271.5 tons of large diameter pipes were manufactured for the project.

It is intended for manufacture of large diameter pipes for onshore and offshore pipelines 508-1422 mm (20-56 inches) in diameter and wall thickness up to 40 mm complying with all up-to-date and long-term requirements of the customers.

At PEWSh-2 20-millionth ton of pipes was manufactured since shop commissioning (shop has been operating for 31 years since commissioning). Gas pipe, which marks this milestone, is 1422 mm in diameter and intended for Iran order.

The line for internal coating application on pipes was put into operation at PWSh-4. The first Khartsyzsk pipe with internal anticorrosion coating was manufactured on February 7, 2003.

PEWSh-2 mastered manufacture of single seam pipes 720 mm in diameter and 12m in length on the line for manufacture of 914-1067 mm diameter pipes, which was renamed as 711-1067 line. PEWSh-2, for the first time, manufactured a pilot batch of 1220 mm diameter pipes with wall thickness of 20.5 mm and 1420 mm diameter pipes with wall thickness of 24.9 mm of X80 steel grade produced by AZOVSTAL IRON & STEEL WORKS (Mariupol). Ceramic flux along with new steel was applied during thick-walled pipe manufacture, and external seams welding was performed using 4-arc welding machine. In this regard, all required pipe parameters were achieved.

The line for manufacture of SAW single seam twelve meters pipes 914-1067 mm (36-42 inches) in diameter with wall thickness up to 17 mm was put into operation at PEWSh-2. Soon after, the line was modernized to manufacture pipes with diameter of 711-1067 mm (28-42 inches). Equipment was supplied by CJSC Novokramatorsky Machine Building Plant and MFL (Austria).

KHARTSYZSK PIPE PLANT was the first company among pipe enterprises in the CIS which certified the Quality Program as per API Spec Q1 and products according to API Spec 5L requirements, having confirmed the compliance of quality of pipes for main pipelines with the requirements of the American Petroleum Institute and acquired a right to apply API monogram onto the products.

The unique line of pipe anticorrosion coating application in Ukraine was constructed. Currently, this is the Pipe Welding Shop No.4 (PWSh-4). The first Khartsyzsk pipe with external anticorrosion coating was manufactured on December 18, 1982.

The giant shop - the Pipe Electric Welding Shop No.2 (PEWSh-2), manufacturing SAW double seam twelve meters pipes 1220 and 1420 mm in diameter, was put into operation. Production output increased up to 2 mln. tons per year upon PEWSh-2 commissioning.

The Council of Ministers compelled KHARTSYZSK PIPE PLANT to launch manufacture of oil and gas pipes for Druzhba oil pipeline and Stavropol-Moscow gas pipeline (500 km) construction.

Khartsyzsk PIPE PLANT, for the first time ever in the USSR, mastered pipes manufacture with application of high-speed automatic submerged arc welding using fundamentally new equipment for that time. Work was being performed with the direct involvement and under supervision of the academician Eu.O. Paton. Pipes manufacture was increased by 240% over pre-war 1940. In the early 1960’s pipes for Druzhba oil pipeline and Central Asia – Center gas pipeline were manufactured in the old shop.

The pipe shop manufacturing steel pipes 14-24 inches in diameter using gas forge welding at Dikke mills was constructed at the plant. Since then the plant became known as Pipe Plant.

Construction of the pipe plant was commenced in Khartsyzsk. Construction lasted almost four years and after coming on stream the plant became known as Khartsyzsk Boiler and Mechanical Plant.
